Atlantic Records has announced the forthcoming release of "MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE: TYLER PERRY'S DADDY'S LITTLE GIRLS," the original motion picture soundtrack to the forthcoming romantic drama slated to open in theaters nationwide on February 14, 2007. Due in stores and online on January 16th, the album features performances from a variety of R&B and gospel superstars, including Yolanda Adams, Anthony Hamilton, Brian McKnight, R. Kelly, and Beyonce.
Among the highlights of "MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE: TYLER PERRY'S DADDY'S LITTLE GIRLS" will be "Family First," the first-ever recording by the Houston Family - Whitney Houston, Dionne Warwick, and Cissy Houston. Also featured on the collection are songs from original Destiny's Child member LeToya Luckett, Tamika Scott (formerly of Xscape), Southern Girl, and the late Gerald Levert (performing a duet with Vanessa Williams).
In addition, "MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE: TYLER PERRY'S DADDY'S LITTLE GIRLS" includes an exclusive remix of Anthony Hamilton's lead track, "Struggle No More," which features contributions from Jaheim and Musiq.

A romantic drama about family, community and love against the odds, Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls stars Gabrielle Union (Running With Scissors, Bad Boys II, Deliver Us From Eva) and Idris Elba (HBO's The Wire, The Gospel, Sometimes In April) in writer/director Tyler Perry's follow-up to his number one box office hits, Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Madea's Family Reunion.
A single father, Monty (Elba) is a garage mechanic who lives in a poor neighborhood and struggles to make ends meet as he raises his three young daughters on his own. But when the courts award custody of his daughters to his corrupt, drug-dealing ex-wife, Monty desperately tries to win them back, enlisting the help of Julia (Union), a beautiful - and hard-nosed - attorney he meets during his short stint as a chauffeur. While Monty and the Ivy-League-educated Julia couldn't be less alike, an unexpected romance blossoms... and it soon begins to feel like true love. But in order for their relationship to survive, the couple must reconcile their two very different worlds - and overcome the forces that threaten to tear Monty's family apart.
Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls is written and directed by Tyler Perry, and also stars Tasha Smith, Gary Sturgis, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Academy Award®-winner Lou Gossett, Jr. The supporting cast includes Malinda Williams, Terri J. When Bad Boy founder and CEO Diddy decided to return to the recording studio for his first solo project in five years, he also decided to recruit an A-list team of cutting-edge producers to turn his widescreen vision into a musical reality. With Diddy himself serving as both executive producer and hands-on producer for much of "PRESS PLAY," he collaborated with a crew of studio innovators to capture the spectrum of sounds and styles that he wanted the album to embody and reflect.
Joining Diddy behind the board were such production aces as Kanye West, Timbaland, Just Blaze, the Neptunes, Havoc from Mobb Deep, Mario Winans, Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas, Rich Harrison, Danja, Big Boi, Rob Lewis, J-Dub, K-Def, Grind Music, and Jai.
The result is a genuinely innovative work that embraces the wide range of artistic influences that have defined Diddy over the years - as an artist, a producer, and above all, a fan. A riveting mix of the new and the old, "PRESS PLAY" sounds unprecedented. With an irresistible sonic vibe best described as New Wave-meets-Hip-Hop, the album is a cutting edge collection of sexy electro-pop with an urban street beat, the sound of a man on a mission to create something entirely original - and succeeding.
"I originally started producing records 'cause I wanted to make people dance," Diddy says. "And I've been quietly working on this for the last two years, taking everything I've learned over the years, from growing up in the '70s, to being out in the streets in the '80s listening to hip-hop and watching how it affected my culture, to the '90s, working with Uptown and Bad Boy. Add to that all the experience I've had traveling and being exposed to all kinds of sounds, and it was time to rekindle the thing I loved. I hang out in Harlem; I chill below 14th Street. I go to hip-hop clubs, techno clubs. All that is gonna go into you and if you're not producing music at that time, it's living inside you. So when I decided to produce a new record, it all felt fresh, it felt new, it felt exciting."
The broad-based musical spectrum encompassed on "PRESS PLAY" is the result of Diddy's insatiable appetite for life and experience. In the five years since his last solo set, the RIAA platinum-certified "THE SAGA CONTINUES," Diddy has added fragrance producer, Broadway actor, marathon runner, and television producer to his ever-growing list of accomplishments. It would have been easy for him to rest on his laurels, to release a CD that played on the same template that made him a global superstar. Instead, Diddy took stock of his remarkable life and created a work that breaks all-new musical ground while remaining unmistakably Diddy. LUPE FIASCO'S DEBUT IS #1 RAP ALBUM THIS WEEK
"LUPE FIASCO'S FOOD & LIQUOR" TOP 10 ON BILLBOARD 200
1st & 15th/Atlantic recording artist Lupe Fiasco scores an impressive #1 debut this week as his album, "LUPE FIASCO'S FOOD & LIQUOR," tops the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart. The Chicago-based MC also ranks #2, just behind Justin Timberlake, on the Billboard Top Hip-Hop/R&B Albums chart and #8 on the Billboard 200, selling more than 80,000 units in his first week.
Because of missing information from "a data supplier in the retail chain strata," this week's Nielsen SoundScan reports were incomplete until today. Originally, SoundScan, the company that tracks sales, had Lupe Fiasco debuting at #2 on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart, #4 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and #12 on the Billboard 200.
